Windows-of-Susceptibility

Regional Concerns:

  • High-rate preterm birth and low weight birth
  • Declining birth rate and subfertility

The Windows-of-Susceptibility (WS) thematic area studies the critical windows-of-susceptibility to environmental exposures and determine the mechanisms that result in adverse reproductive and development effects across the lifespan. The WS team, led by Sunni Mumford, PhD, has expertise in genetic imprinting, transgenerational effects, metabolic disorders and pre-term birth that can result from these exposures as well as the developmental origins of health & disease.
