Regional Concerns:
The Environmental Exposure & Cancer (EC) thematic area elucidates the link between exposures to carcinogens (e.g. asbestos, air pollution (e.g. PAH and NO2-PAH) and UV light to their adverse outcomes to identify individuals most at risk to develop cancer using biomarkers of exposure and effect and intermediate cancer biomarkers. The EC team, led by Ian A. Blair, PhD, has expertise in exposure assessment, mechanistic carcinogenesis, thoracic and skin malignancies, and community engagement to address issues of concern in our region.
