Dr. Aimin Chen and colleagues awarded $11M NIH grant to study chemical exposure and dementia risk
Dr. Aimin Chen, Professor of Epidemiology and Associate Director of CEET’s Translational Research Support Core, and colleagues at Northwestern University, University of California San Francisco, and Emory University were awarded a new U01 grant: Early mid-life environmental toxicant exposures and AD/ADRD risk in CARDIA. Funded by the National Institute on Aging, this project aims to uncover the long-term effects of early exposure to environmental toxicants on the development of Alzheimer’s Disease and related dementias (AD/ADRD), utilizing extensive, longitudinal data from the CARDIA Study. It will employ advanced techniques in exposomic, genomic, epigenomic, transcriptomic data analyses to trace the biological impact of the toxicants and understand their role in cognitive decline and changes in brain structure.
